AROC is an Indaver subsidiary. AROC regenerates hydrochloric acid from three pickling lines at Tata Steel in IJmuiden (the Netherlands) and has been doing so continuously for over 10 years. The factory is also located at the Tata site, which extends over almost 800 hectares.
Hydrochloric acid is used to remove rust from sheet steel after rolling. AROC has built a roaster oven (165,000 tonnes capacity) to regenerate hydrochloric acid and is working continuously to achieve as efficient a process as possible. The waste pickling liquid is oxidised in the roaster oven. This produces regenerated hydrochloric acid and iron oxide ready for use in the steel and pigment industries.
